It seems as if all of San Diego is on fire. It is still so hard to believe it even though I can see it all over the news and know so many people who are personally affected.
Many people I know had to be evacuated out of their homes. Fortunately they are all safe and their homes have been spared so far. My dad and his family had to evacuate their home last night. They were able to go stop back by their house today and some of the neighboring homes nearby were all burned. Luckily their home is still ok. Now they are all on their way over to my house right now because they cannot go home because it is not safe to stay in the area where they live.
The air quality is so bad that they are insisting that everyone stay inside if at all possible. My office is closed today and I'm wondering if we will even have go back in tomorrow or not. It feels so helpless to have to just sit around and wait to know what to do if anything while so much destruction and devastation is happening to so many people.
The area of town I live in is not threatened or projected to be threatened at this time but I am ready to go if need be. I've packed up pictures, important papers and such. The winds are constantly changing directions so at any time the fire could potentially shift directions. We had a small scare yesterday that the fire may have been heading this way when the fire jumped the I-15 freeway and started coming west but they were able to put that fire all out eliminating that possibility.
The fear they have now is that the 3 individual fires meet and become one raging fire. I cannot imagine what kind of nightmare that would cause be if that happened.
I'll try to log on later and give an update but may not be able to with family being over and such. I promise to talk to you all soon.
