A few days ago I was invited to an art reception. Troy O'Neill was visiting San Francisco from London for the first time just for the reception.
How wonderful?
Well, the show was awesome anyhow, really nice pictures of "famous" people like Robert Deniro, Liz Taylor, whatever the stars. I asked him how he came to photographing such people, he gave me the answer I always thought I would get, since I'm into photographing "cult" movie stars.
For everyone that's wondering, he told me he found out where the movie was being shot or where the concert was and took pictures, then he found out where the people lived, if they liked his pictures of themselves they would reply, yippe.
That's not the cool story though.
Have you ever taken a pain pill and felt like the pill gave you a pain? I have a little ache in my arm.
Ooops, that's a little off the subject.
Anyways, I was talking to this guy, Todd Heapy (www.thphoto.com) and the subject of Burning Man came up. I told him I was going to Burning Man for the first time and he was giving me all sorts of pointers on how to not look like a goddamn journalist with my camera at burning man. His answer? He gave me 40 dollars.
So I'm guessing that this "magick" 40 dollars will help me not look like a retarded journalist at Burning Man.
Hmmm, anyways, I told him with the 40 dollars he gave me I was going to buy some Kazoo's (is that how you spell it) and hand them out to people and we're going to make a song with Kazzo's (or is that how you spell it) and call it Todd Heapy's Happy song.
Do you like kazoo's?
