No art to post today, Sorry! Though I'm working on a awesome new stencil of Bob stay tuned for that one biggrin

I'm posting today seeking some opinions! A gallery asked me to write up a bit of a statement on my artistic process and why I make art. So this is my statement:

There is beauty to be found within the layers of graffiti hidden in a city. Though it may be lost to time, some graffiti spontaneously brings life and color to places where it is not expected to be found. It is beautiful what layers of color do to the eye, even if these colors are found in intricately painted graffiti. Eyes wander lovingly and aimlessly, latching onto sections of colors and then simply moves on to the next. Intrigue took over, I became fascinated and involved with graffiti and street art. Out of this fascination I discovered that stencils arent simply tools for decoration but can be so much more. All of these discoveries and childish intrigues have become my artistic foundation.
My work often begins with an idea, be it an emotion or simply a color. Through much planning I either choose or take a photo of what or whom I wish to make a stencil of. Planning seems the take the most time from the position I place the stencil on the canvas to the colors used. Once it comes time to paint almost all of that planning counts for nothing as the spontaneity of layering color and stencil takes over. Until the very end when I place the portrait or whatever on top does all that forethought count. My goal, in all of this, is to make work that will cause people to take a second or two as they walk through a city to appreciate what color they may see and appreciate the art that surrounds it.

smile Thats it... hopefully it makes sense!

But now I leave you with a freaking awesome music video!

This video just makes the nerd in me happy
