Well, it seems that the life of the free spirit is definitely affecting every aspect of my life. I just got back from camping in the woods for about a week and a half. It's funny really. I am such a technology junkie, yet I still seem to have the occasional 'itch' to pack a bag full of survival gear and trek to some part of the mountains where it is a definite possibility no human has gone before. I love the survival game. If I go up to the mountains with a tarp, a machette, an axe, a canteen, some iodine drops, a pot, and a survival knife, I can have the kind of confidence knowing that I have what it takes to survive. I did very well this last trip. I went up there and after about three hours realized that I wasn't alone. I was being watched by something. I finally saw her: it was a very large cougar. So sleek, magnificent, and master of her domain, I felt that this was my spirit guide for this journey. I followed her for about three days and found a dead animal of some type (squirrel, rabbit, whatever) outside of my camp each day. After boiling it in water and then grilling it, I felt more like an indian and more energetic than I ever could eating the processed meat that passes for food in this world. If I didn't occasionally need to get my tech fix, I might not ever return. Now I am off to Fort Collins to videotape a workshop on legal research. I am not sure what I will do after that, but I will update. Until next time...
edit: has anyone heard of buckethead? I was just introduced to his music yesterday. Can't stop listening to it.
