Hi! I went to see Joanna Newsome yestaday. It was wierd because that was the busiest i have ever seen that place and The Evens (Ian Macaye) played there a couple of weeks ago and there was like a third of the amount of people there!
I'm in two minds about the music. Ther music is really beautiful. She is an amzing musician and what she is doing is really unique. But i find her voice a little bit funny but also quite pretentious. For example when she talks she talks so quitley that she knows that no one can hear her. And the lyrics are a little bit annoying-all about pixies, flowers, goblins, sparkle dust etc. So...i'm still not sure... good but pretentious and i think the pretentious side rubbed me up the wrong way.
It was ace to see my friend again-i've not seen her in ages. We went to Wok Mania and fully took advantage of the all you can eat offer!!! I had been starving myself for like 3 days in preparation!!! Stuff it-it's my fiver!!! It was pretty funny though. I liked the way that they were playing the Bee Gees, so we could sit there and discuss how authentic that was 'i rememeber when i was in China and all i heard was the Bee Gees!'.
I think i ate too much though. I had really bad tummy ache at the gig! I was fully wokamania'd!
Serves me right i guess. Going ot see Jack rose tonight. That should be really good. *eek*

My friend used to play the theremin in a band I was in. Those things sound so fucking awesome. I hate eating too much before i go to shows. i always do it though. it ruins it half the time. snowboarding was excellent. good company. long week though. too much work!
