Happy New Years to everyone! I hope the transfer of power went as smoothly for you as it did me, ushering in a new age of avoidance of the past year's problems. I've made progress this year already by cleaning my room, a feat unmatched by anything I did in 2005.
As the circle of life continues, I made resolutions for this year:
1. Do swell, if not peachy, in school.
2. Be confident, stupid!!
3. Care less what other's think and be myself without regret
4. Do appropriate drugs at appropriate times
5. Draw more, be artsier, fartsier
6. Puff, puff, pass
7. To crush my enemies, see them driven before me and to hear the lamentation of the women!
This was an aborted thread for the music boards, make of it what you will:
Kind of Like Spitting's album, Learn: The Songs of Phil Ochs, covers a bunch of great protest songs, but it's not the kind of music that gets a groundswell of attention nor does it energize a large segment of the population. I think hip-hop is the best genre to recapture the lost art of a protest song. It's hands down the most relevant genre of popular music, with more musical innovators in a decade than rock has had in twenty years.
Then I trailed off, and even that bullshit above is post-op.
