MAYHEM Fest
okay. much better than I expected. the drive there kinda blew (stupid me forgetting about cottage country traffic...) so i ended up missing Walls of Jericho, one of the three bands i wanted to see. I went by myself but kept running into lots of people i knew which was cool.
36 Crazyfists is my new favorite band. The one band that i absolutely had to see and they tore it down. I can't wait until November when they are coming back around with In Flames
Machine Head was the last band I had to see. And i was more let down than satisfied. I know their most recent album is absolutly awesome, but when you have a 35 minutes set time, do you reallt need to play two 10 minute long songs? Finishing With Davidian almost made up for it, but not quite...
As for the headliners, Disturbed was fantastic. Now i'm not a Disturbed fan at all, but everytime I've seen them they have impressed me and this was no exception. They are super tight live and the new material was solid. Mind you the older songs (Stupify, Down with the Sickness) sound dated, but all in all enjoyable
Slipknot, on the other hand, was disappointing. Lackluster pyro and cheap stage effects didn't make up for poor performance. They left out some of their most popular songs (Spit It Out, Wait and Bleed), talked a lot about nothing, and I wasn't too impressed with their new song either.
so no concerts on the near horizon, but Fan Expo is less than two weeks away, Yay!!!!!!
