Bah, I quit twitter. It was too much effort.
Also, I'm always more nostalgic for Victoria in the fall. I miss the trees and the leaves all over the sidewalks and how stately and perfecto the Camosun campus looks, feels, and sounds in the fall. I miss wooly sweaters without a jacket, cute hats for fashion reasons only, and doing my two charity walks (Heart and Stroke, Run for the Cure).
I can practically smell the air on Dallas road when I think about the Heart and Stroke walk. It was a family tradition that I was lucky enough to take part in with my grandma before she passed away (I still don't know how she did it year after year with her pacemaker going and ironically taking smoke breaks along the way). It even makes me miss scrambling to find parking on Cook street. God I miss Cook Street. I still haven't found a place that tops Rosie's for milkshakes.
I miss the cold smell in the air, and all the kids wearing rain slickers and gumboots. I miss unfrozen pumpkins and kids trick-or-treating in costumes without parkas on top. I miss gray days down on the Inner Harbour, going to the museum and enjoying the last of the hardcore street performers. I miss the pick-your-own pumpkin patch on the way to the Ferry, and the toy show in Sidney.
I love my life here in Calgary and I'm really overjoyed that we're actually getting fall this year (awwww yeah), please don't think I don't, but I'm still carrying on the love affair with Victoria that's been going on all my life.
Islanders; enjoy all the sights, sounds, tastes, and smells your beautiful autumn has to offer, you truly lucky SOBs.
