It's actually looking like what you would expect Washington to look like. Overcast and threatening to rain. Of course, I like it. It's why I moved here. I've really enjoyed the sunny days but even that can get old. I'm not one who sees the point in complaining about the weather but I do like variety more than anything.
I've been thinking a lot about my interactions with people lately. I,ve also been thinking a lot about my spirituality. Oddly enough, this morning I concluded that they might actually be linked. I'm firmly in the agnostic camp, not because I can't decide what to believe, but because I don't think that we are really capable of understanding what's going on. I just don't think we're equipped for it. I also doubt that our believing or not believing in things really changes the physical structure of our reality. I could be wrong on that one though. Anyway, in relating to other people, I think it's the only real way to interact with ourselves in a spiritual way. Or to put it more simply, I'm nice to people because if I'm not then that makes me a prick. It's really not any more complicated than that.
I was also thinking that body modification, in whatever form, is a very intense way of addressing ourselves spiritually. I have more expereince with getting tattooed than anything else, so that's what I'll use as an example. Getting tattooed is a violent, sensual, aggressive act to take what was given to you (your body) and making it your own. Having tattoos changes your self perception, and by extension, how you are percieved by others. Even when the tattoos aren't visible, You know they are there and therefore they affect your interaction with other people, which in turn reflects how we are interacting with ourselves.
I know I'm rambling, it's probably the weather.
