The first tattoo I ever got is my wolf and moon.
When I was maybe 4 years old, my dad had gotten a beautiful lone wolf howling to the moon on his right forearm.
I adore my dad, always have and always will. I look up to him as my hero and roll model.
He caught me staring at his tattoo one night in the car, he pulled over into the next rest stop where he bought me some temporary tattoos from one of those little vending machines they used to have.
I was so excited to be tattooed like my dad. I told him, "When I'm old enough, I'm going to get a real tattoo, just like yours! but my wolf is gonna be a girl wolf."
He simply smiled at me and we went on with our lives.
Fast forward 16 years, 20 year old Me and I finally have enough money (and guts) to get my first tattoo.
I walk into the tattoo parlor, tell them what I'm looking for as well as a picture of my dads wolf for reference.. 2 weeks later and a $50 deposit I'm laying on the tattoo couch for the first time, my hands are sweaty and I'm incredibly nervous. The process was rather painful, I didn't know numbing creams existed. My skin did not like the needle at all and I swelled up almost immediately. 3 hours of what felt like an angry hornet nest attacking my shoulder, It was complete and I was in love.
I discovered numbing cream after that first session. Let me tell you... Numbing cream made touch ups and every tattoo after that much more bearable.
They say getting your first tattoo is like having sex for the first time, you know it'll hurt a little...but then you'll want more.
I now have 3 tattoos, my wolf on my shoulder, my sailor moon garter on my leg and my celtic knots & roses on my chest just below my breasts. I can't wait to get more.
My wolf and moon is my most meaningful tattoo to date. It represents my love for my father as well as my own independence and loyalty to those that I care about. Once you're one of my people, I'll go down fighting for you.
