It is official: I'm 24.
Yippee.
B-day plans for today? Nothing fancy. It'll probably involve getting drunk after work while hanging with my peeps. *shrugs* The only reason I ever care about my birthdays is that it usually means getting some free stuff from the family. All of my birthdays have been rather anticlimatic, really.
Recent Develoments:
Work- some of the old wackiness has returned to my work environment (especially in the form of deranged/kooky customers). I'm tottering on the border between sleep and wakefulless at the moment, so I'm going to save the elaborate descriptions of assorted hijinks for a future post.
On The Literature Tip: finished Bob Black's "Friendly Fire" (uneven collection of his writings, not quite up to the heights of "Beneath The Underground"), read Crimethinc's "Days Of War And Nights Of Love" (... loved it in parts and vehemently despised it in others; again, like the hijinks, it'll be fodder for future ramblings), and right now I'm working on Paul Bowles "The Sheltering Sky" (which is just fan-fucking-tastic, I must say).
Music: I've picked up Mastodon's "Leviathon" and "Blood Mountain" records this way and.... damn. I've been playing songs like "Megalodon" and "Naked Burn" on a loop, when I'm not listening to Nas "Illmatic" (a record I like more and more with each listen) and some Biggie Smalls tracks I downloaded recently (faves of the moment: "Party And Bullshit" and "Going Back To Cali").
Films: I watched Carol Reed's "The Fallen Idol" last night (excellent, but I'm not going to review it today), saw "Scarface" the day before (I've only seen it on TV heavily edited, which is charming in its own fashion for such hilariously wacked dubbed lines like "this city is a chicken just waiting to be plucked!"), and "Withnail & I" the day before that (I've been meaning to see it for awhile now; I dug it, especially for the Wayne's World 2 moment of deja vu that happens early in the film).
Other stuff: the week has been both pleasant and rather uneventful. Talked to my mother a couple of days ago (I'm having breakfast with her at 10) and sadly she doesn't sound much better. Her new meds are fucking her up in a big way... anyway, I'd rather not dwell on that.
So... yeah.... c'est la vie, mon amis. Not much else to report here.

Feeling like an old man yet? Mr. 24? I had my first hip replacement at 24, and I chased my first whippersnapper off my gol-darned porch too.

How goes, emperor? By your standards this is a long time with no update.
