I have been a horrendous updater of late, but I have an excuse! And, I swear to the many poor souls who roasted in the belly of the Sloar to update at a right quick pace until my fingers cripple as an old woman.
The past two months have been centered on submitting my applications to graduate school, and more specifically, writing, and rewriting, and cursing my personal statements. I am never satisfied with my writing and tend to obsess over it until the very last minute. That tendency took over my life and my mind. I am now free of its cruel grip around my throat.
The applications have been submitted to Georgetown, Northwestern and MIT. I probably wont be hearing back regarding admittance until March or April, so heres the part where I bite my nails and busy myself with books, part-time work and cleaning to counteract my nervousness. Allow me to quote the only "Simpsons" line I will EVER quote: "The waiting game sucks. Let's play Hungry Hungry Hippos."
I did receive an e-mail from Northwestern stating that they have reviewed my application and I am in the pool of folks considered top applicants. As the e-mail was not an acceptance e-mail, Im not quite sure what top applicant specifically means. They are, however, paying for my travel, hotel and expenses the last weekend in February in order to meet with the faculty, visit the campus, and discuss committing to the doctoral program. Im crossing my fingers that this bit of excitement bodes wells for the other applications.
Christmas was great fun, and I finally received the gift Ive been long pining after for about three years: a remote-control T-Rex. This introduces a whole new level of fun in my misadventures with my domesticated rabbit. The New Year was amateurish as per usual, but did allow me the time to finally rendezvous with a boy Ive been interested in for quite some time. We ended up making plans to watch all three Lord of the Rings extended-version films IN A ROW. Thirteen hours of great fun ensued and Im now convinced its the only way to watch the films provided you only watch them once every two years.
So what the hell did I miss while away?

I always feel left out because I don't know any Simpson's quotes. I can quote the hell out of Bloodsport & Kickboxer though, so that makes up for it.

Also, I tilt my head to see your picture every time I visit this journal, even though I'm pretty familiar with it at this point. Why?
