I'm not sure when it happened, but at some point I began to grow up. It is something that as a child I promised my heart I would never do. I was always amazed at how people can become embittered all the while possessing all the blessings they will ever need, and reflecting upon myself I find that a little of that has slipped into me. I'm not sure how long the disease has been there. It has been innocuous and silent, festering and feasting on my insides. Clouding my heart.
As a child I never knew sarcasm or spite, yet find myself admiring a sharp retort or firing some off myself without having to think of it. I find my self holding on to things that anger me when they used to so easily be replaced with happy thoughts.
Today I looked into my heart and saw it needs mending. I have a wonderful life, love, friends and am fully sound in finances and other worldly needs. So why is there that shadow? Today I spoke to my Little Prince, my Peter Pan...whomever that bright star or glimmer of pixie dust is inside and he reached out his hand to mine.
Let's pull you out of the darkness and into my countenance for all to see...here's to a happier me, hand in hand with my inner child who will not go down without a fight no matter how hard the world tries to make me grow up.
"I have lived a great deal among grown-ups. I have seen them intimately, close at hand. And that hasn't much improved my opinion of them."-The Little Prince
