It's finally Halloween guys, my tied-for-favorite holiday (Saint Pat's is the other, obviously), and I am feeling the Samhain vibes in the best way on this late night. I've been broadcasting on CB and listening to Misfits and old AFI the last couple of hours and it's just perfect.
I think I've always been drawn to Halloween because of the way it brings the macabre undertones to the foreground of our often mundane daily lives. I think that honoring the dead and acknowledging the existence of death itself is so important for all of us. See also: I fucking LOVE a good Halloween party.
This Halloween is particularly enjoyable for a few reasons:
1. After being too muddy to go to the barn and work horses for a solid 6 weeks, I got to ride two days in a row before the next wave of rain hits.
2. I am caught up on editing for the first time in MONTHS, so I had a real weekend where I wasn't rushing around to get home and keep working.
3. While being caught up is awesome, it also makes me worry that I will have a big gap in manuscripts, which will mean a big gap for my income, but today I got a new client email with a request to work on her dissertation!
4. My part-time boyfriend is in town for a poker tournament, and I get to spend the next 3 nights at the casino with him. :)
I suppose I should write a blog about my part-time boyfriends at some point, and I will. But it is late and I am tired, so I am going to end this with a few pics from the last couple of days.
The first pic is Percy, my big horse, who bent the first side of that gate reaching into the barn for hay, got yelled at, and promptly moved to the other side...and did it again. Super proud mom moment.
The other two are my fave outfits from camming this week. I kinda like having a reason to put something cute on without having to actually leave the house!
