Well its not a big deal, people have different taste so dont let any of the bad stuff get you down, I think you have the ability to get good at it so dont give up, you should take a look at some other photographers who do some of the same stuff that you are doing, it always helps to learn from the pros.

So your home town is Cincinnati, I live pretty close to there, I go there every once in a while.
