Okay, okay, they're more than just ROCKS. I collect crystals, minerals, and precious gems. I've been collecting rocks since I was able to pick them up from the dirt. I am just so interested in how they look and feel in my hand; the way they catch the light, how dense they are, what they're made of. I'm just genuinely interested and drawn to them. I know a lot about names and folklore surrounding all the rocks I own. I have over a hundred tumbled stones as well as a few larger. I am even writing a little encyclopedia of all my lil rock babies. I have a very deep and personal connection with some of my rocks because of the memories they contain.
It blows my mind how long it takes for them to form! Most stones are millions of years old. All that time they have witnessed just to sit at my bedside; they will keep on witnessing time pass far past my natural lifetime. I am always blown away by caves and all the stalactites and stalagmites. It feels like a whole 'nother world, which is kind of ironic because it's Earth at its purest form.
I find it fascinating that so many cultures have so many beliefs revolving around different types of crystals. I'm not sure weather or not I believe any of it, but it's fun to pretend. I enjoy making patterns and spirals with them and placing them around the house, I'm constantly rearranging them, it's meditative in a way. Some rocks I like to keep on the window sill because I like the way they catch light. Sometimes I buy multiples of the same stone so I can make more extravagant and organized patterns.
I have spent hundreds of dollars over the years. My partner and I are mildly obsessed. We decided to start buying larger pieces for the house. Our biggest one is a Calcite formation, it weighs 7 lbs (pic beneath), and we got it on our trip to the desert! My obsession has even translated into my style, all m plugs are made from natural stone. I love the weight and cool touch of my Hematite plugs.
So, maybe my collection is more of an obsession, but I am still so proud! There is nothing in the world as fascinating as these rocks.
@rambo & @missy I hope you guys enjoyed my "show and tell" of my collection for my SGHW ~
