So at a bbq party yesterday after hours of drinks and food and cards against humanity things got a bit serious. My friends neighbor rushed over to the house with a baby kitten couldn't be more than a few days old less than a week. It was found in a garbage can and not in great shape. His left eye had worms and there was mucus and blood in his stool. We wrapped him up as warm as we could, bottle fed him, and cleaned most of the worms out of his eye and began to think of what's next. Hospital bills are insane especially for emergency vets let alone on a holiday weekend but I couldn't let a simple thing like money get in the way of an innocent helpless life. I decided whatever it cost we will take him to a doctor. If they tell me for x amount of money they can save his life and he can live happily then so be it. If they tell me there's nothing they can do and he needs to be put down then sadly that will happen to be the case.
Sadly, after we got to the emergency vet the doctor sat with me and told me the chances of him making it after treatment was so slim she felt bad to take my money. It would've been 500 dollars but she said his suffering would've been beyond humane. So I said goodbye to the little angel and they put him right to sleep.
Just made me realize ho grateful I am for my little guy at home and how lucky he is to live in a home where he is so loved and well taken care of. I've been a little down since last night but if everyone could give their furry companion some extra love today in honor of those who will never have a chance or experience for that please do. Life is so precious.
