what a weekend it was, dear friends.
Elise has been inexcusably sick since Friday night. Watch out, because this thing is going around. I'm talking fever, stuffy/runny nose, unheard-of sinus pressure, sore throat, coughing, and it was even painful to BREATHE for a while there.
needless to say, all i did all weekend was sleep and eat cream of wheat.
until sunday night, which was the Ani DiFranco concert. an hour-and-a-half trip turned out to be a three-hour trip to the venue, because we couldn't find the damn place (we being Tatum and I). when we finally did, we pushed our way through the endless sea of butch dykes to about 10 feet from the stage. we were all packed like sardines in this place. it was hot. stuffy. and smokey. Elise was still sick. I began to get pretty sweaty and then my heart began POUNDING.... i couldn't tell you what my heart rate was, but it was incredibly fast. i got dizzy. i felt faint. Tatum said I was white as a ghost! so we pushed our way to the back again and i had a small drink of WARM water and sat down for the remainder of the show. after a while i felt much better. but it was scary for a bit there.
Ani was spectacular, of course. She hobbled out on crutches, the poor girl! never told us what happened, just made fun of herself. the girl's hilarious. and wow, SO talented.
And now, today, here at work at the dreaded hotel, i have absolutely NO VOICE left. That is right. This girl cannot speak above a whisper. The infection has, as it always does, settled in my throat and voice box. So far, not a customer or phone call. I'm hoping we will have none, because i won't be able to communicate. :-(
i hope your weekends found you all in better health. hold your breath, because you don't want this!
