The mall-ification and condo-rificness of the world makes me slightly sad. Everything seems watered down and/or oversaturated. Everyone seems like a cheap 5 cent copy of an original concept. Only now are they having things like laser tattoo removal and quickie divorces marketed to them on the fly.
What happened to everyone's unique essenece? I'm wondering how I fit in on the food chain.
Or not, thankfully.
People seem to just settle for the limited options that are presented to them, and I've had to do that no more or less than the average person, I believe. However, I've not been content with just merely surviving and getting by, which is why it was terribly frustrating last year to just get by.
This year, I have some goals to accomplish. If I do not achieve the following in completion by the beginning of next year, I will not be bereft or forlorn. I know that sometimes I might appear to be overly ambitious to myself, but if I make a strong effort and finish most of the following, then I will be that much better off.
1. Figure out the great debacle in its entirety that occurred when I was 23, the charge-offs on some credit cards and how they impact the future.
2. Get on track with all of the student loans for previously non-fulfilling educational opportunities.
3. Stay at a constant weight, which for me in my personal best is the range of 118-122. I'm slightly heavier now, and my modeling weight is generally 107-ish.
4. Work with some photographers that I've been meaning to collaborate with while I still have the chutzpah.
5. Finish some seasons of a few tv series that I've not followed up on in awhile. This would be a very limited list, but I'll do it Sex and the City style, when I watched 4 seasons in a one week time span.
6. Be on track with my AA degree goal and solicit advice from knowledgeable individuals who won't steer me incorrectly.
7. Travel to Los Angeles for at least 3 or 4 days and catch up with some people who I either need to punch in the face or give a big hug to (50/50 on either of those at this point.)
8. Be firmly enraptured in the perfect volunteer scenario. I've done the shelter and animal adoption thing for a few, and maybe it's time to step it up. One of my best friends does hospice work in Michigan and her stories are both heartwarming and horrifying, simultaneously. Hmm, good metaphor for some of my own life, actually.
9. Play at least several songs that I love on the bass guitar. Freeform with some others of equal to better ability.
10. Stay in Portland for a week straight and make some enthralling memories there.
11. Pare down my massive wardrobe to a more glamorous yet utilitarian style amount.
12. Find at least one new signature scent. It's currently Kiehl's musk (which is teh sex and super reasonable), but I cannot wear Kiehl's to one of my workplaces since we do not sell it there. Bah. So far I like Peace by Kenzo, Dolce and Gabbana's The One, DKNY Red Delicious and L.A.M.B.
13. Have a Washington state driver's license, which is not exactly easy to get.
14. Acquire some furniture that does not involve assembly or Ikea, even in the As-Is section.
15. Continue to make some extraordinary profits reselling on eBay and step it up to a higher profit margin.
16. Do the necessary research in creating my own makeup formulations. I've worked with hundreds of products all the way across the board. I don't feel that the majors or specialties are able to address the particular needs of both multi-ethnic and combination/acne-prone skin. Bare Escentuals OOMPA LOOMPA cakey powder, I'm talking to you, especially.
17. Do things both great and small for the amazing people in my life.
So that's enough pondering for now, as this journal is going to measure this moment in time. One that I can refer back to when necessary.
What do you want to before the end of the year is up?

I think you should go with the Red Delicious. I have no idea how it smells, but I like the name.
