Unhappy Meals
Ever wonder what would happen if you ate nothing but fast food for an entire month? Just ask Morgan Spurlock. He bagged the documentary-directing prize at the Sundance Film Festival for his film, Super Size Me, which chronicles his 30-day McDonald's diet and the subsequent deterioration of his health. Dining at the golden arches three times daily for a month, Spurlock packed on 25 pounds and suffered headaches, depression and a low libido. His liver became toxic, his cholesterol skyrocketed and he found himself vomiting from car windows. "He was an extremely healthy person who got very sick eating this McDonald's diet," said Spurlock's physician. What says Mickey Dees? "Consumers can achieve balance ... by choosing from our array of quality offerings and range of portion sizes to meet their taste and nutrition goals." Mm-hmm.
