Well, I'm not surprised no one had a comment to my last journal entry... How do you respond to something like that?
Anyway, I forgot how much beautiful wildlife there is around here in Northern NY.... (no, I don't mean the bars!)
(Although few people can whoop it up like country folk!)
There are more species in my parents little acre & a half of land then there is in a 10 mile radius around Boston. There are about 20 species of birds that eat out of my 'rents birdfeeder, crackles, grossbeaks, finches, chickadees, jays, woodpeckers, you name it.
'Coon tracks. A wild turkey has been wandering around the yard eating. I saw a porcupine w/ my newest brother in law... (my only one, now).... deer(s), beaver, (no pun intended), gophers, jackrabbits, & a few I can't even remember right now.
I've already eaten (or found) fiddleheads, several species of wild mushroom (although the season is quite early), & a bonanza of wild herbs. & I've hardly ventured from the house.
Well, a couple of hikes in the woods...
I can't too much of that, as I'm either talking w/ the nurses, conferring/conversing w/ my sister & Dad, or just keeping my Mother comfortable & in good stead.
@ least my sister is doing the "personal care", as they call it in nursing..... Ahem. Whew.
Not that I wouldn't if necessary, but we all prefer it that way.
It's really beautiful up here. I'll load an assload of pictures as soon as I get my hands on a scanner; & shoot more pictures, of course.
The weirdest part of this experience (my Mother dying, for the uninformed); I guess, is the "spiritual guidance" it takes when a person is dying. I don't believe in religion & "God" per se, as I believe it's just metaphor for mysterious things, but what the hell. @ times like these, you actually DO hope you're wrong, & the person will go on "living", either in another form or another existance.
We Natives would call it "The Happy Hunting Ground"..
Heck, yeah. It'd be cool it she could get to heaven. Beats nothingness.
I'm in "downtown" Edwards, NY right now. It's quieter in the middle of the day here than it is in the dead of night in my old neighborhood in Boston.
My "estranged" brother came to say good-bye to our Mother. I was glad to:
1: Finally track down & reach him, &
2: See him.
This is really weird. I'm having a very good time, considering the situation... (a real mixed bag of nuts), but I need to blow off some steam.
And yes, for those who would ask, I am okay.
My Mom told me it was okay if I'm a homosexual.
Hehehehehe. I told her she was being a "Homo-Mom".
"Are you just hoping I'm gay so you'll get some clout as a ultra-modern?", I teased....
She should know by NOW how much I love my girl(s)...
Sigh. Chuckle. Sigh. Chuckle. LOL.....
YAAAAAYYYYYYY!!!! Brandy's having a kid. I want to be it's Dad.
Elfboy, reporting for Fatherhood....
Chuckle.
