Jesus Fucking Christ.
Where do I start?
Ummmm...
It's bizarre. My mother is (I never really realised) a true pioneer of the Woman's Movement. I talk w/ the young girls whose lives she's affected, and they say:
"She's had such an amazing life"!
& it's true. There are people wanting to interview her before she dies to record some of her exploits, such as her exploits in fighting Corporations (rather successfully) from destroying the environment & farmlands in Northern NY during her time as an activist.
She was arrested several times.
She was a Nun. She was a nurse. She was in the Air Force.
The list goes on. The line of people coming to visit her does too.
It's much better than a funeral, because she gets to see, visit w/ & interact w/ all the people that would be praying @ her corpse. Cool. Good move. Now there aren't a bunch of people standing around wishing they'd done something different. Now there are people who are pleased to have made their peace w/ her, to have gotten a kiss & a hug, & walk away feeling good, rather than filled w/ regret.
& she's having a grand old time. She gets to see her fans, friends, & family.
It's funny. When I was younger, my siblings & I'd always joked we wish we could see our Mom get all fucked up.
I don't think this is what we meant. The Opiate based meds she has to take really do do a number on her, and frankly remind me a little too much of some of the situations I've had to deal w/ w/ too many friends I can't spend time with anymore....
But she can be amusing when she's wasted.....
Sometimes.
Thank God for George Bush making my Mother's medication so much cheaper....
Ahem...
We are being very successful in making her end very peaceful, very happy. It would be nice if my dear sister would relent just a tad w/ the drama, so we can fulfill her last wishes.
She has affected so many people in so many positive ways. It truly is amazing. Her house is a bombardment of art & folk art. Children enter it in awe. Jaws agape, they wander around, lookinig @ all the toys & fantastical images, & stare.
You can tell they walk out changed people.
& it lasts them a lifetime...
I'll BBS.....
