Bloggy-blog-time. Finally, i managed to at least want to start writing this blog. Lets talk about my festival season this year! (Which may or may not be over, i still hope i can go to one more later this summer, before my apprenticeship starts.)
So I went to Rock am Ring for the first time this year!
Fortunately we had really good luck with the weather. It was hot and sunny wednesday through friday, saturday was just a little rain and sunday and monday we spent in a cloud. But it was still great.
We left wednesday early in the morning at 1 am, arrived at about 3:30 and realized there, that we weren't allowed to drive onto the parking lots until 7 am. That was super lame, so we decided to just wait and have a few beers and energy drinks.
Finally at about 7:30 am we went up to the line waiting to get on the camping area, and we were let in only half an hour later. Which was pretty sweet, because last time i go a horrbile sunburn waiting in line.
Then we picked a great spot, layed out the tents of the whole group (20 people maybe) and started fixing them up. The people my friends knew already, and planned to camp with (which we did) brought so much stuff, it was insane. We had a generator there, and therefore electricity obviously. We had a freezer; ice cold beer at such a hot festival is so nice.
We had a computer, with HUGE speakers, and a kebab spit. Which we later put chickens on too. So damn delicious.
But yeah. It's not all about camping at a festival, right? I saw 2 of my favourite Bands there, which was super fricking fantastic. A Day to Remember and Thirty Seconds to Mars. 30stm were so unbelievable. I had goosebumps through the whole show ah. God. It was sooooo good.
Apart from those two gems, I also saw Stone Sour, Limp Bizkit (my god, Behind blue eyes was fantastic as well), Paramore, Seeed, Green Day, Royal Republic, Bad Religion, Simple Plan and Kraftclub.
I had a really great time and met some awesome people there.
Yes, this is a hint of my new tattoo, if you havent seen it yet. I'll post a few pics later on in this blog
(I lost those sunglasses recently )
Then about 10 days later I left for the second festival, which i didn't attend as a normal visitor, but worked there as a so called 'Lotse'. If you have been reading my blogs, you might remember this from last year, where i did the same thing at the Area 4 festival. This year it was the Southside.
first of all. on't ever travel by train to a festival that is so many hours away from you. It was quiiite annoying. But i made it.
Anyway a Lotse doesn't pay for the festival he is attending, but therefore has to work 24 hours divided up on 5 days (or sometimes 20 hours divided up on 4 days). Thus, arrives a day earlier (Wednesday) than the visitors are allowed to arrive, and leaves Monday. The work you have to do as a Lotse can be at a parking lot, at the entrance, collecting trash, at the reverse vending machine etc.So it's all easy stuff, normally people dont really feel like doing. But since people are so fun at festivals, i never really minded doing all this, and all the Lotsen are always cool and you can still have fun at the festival since you never work more than 6 hours a day (Unless you are a joker-lotse, those sometimes work longer shifts).
But yeah. It was great there as well, I went there by myself, only knowing 2 people i would meet there, who saved a spot for my tent. But I got to know a lot of great people, and I miss them dearly already :/.
I didn't see all that many bands at his festival, due to my work shifts, but I only really wanted to see 2 very badly, which were Macklemore and Left Boy, who both were fantastic.
Rammstein were one of the headliners, and I had to see them as well. Their show was insane! So much pyrotechnics, and lots of dick. It was definitely worth seeing, I don't think I will ever forget this show.
And the few other bands i saw (if you even care) were Billy Talent, Deichkind and Paul Kalkbrenner.
Ska P i only heard from our camping spot while i was waiting for my friends to get back from dinner (the camping space for Lotsen is right by one of the stages), and I'm pretty bumed about missing Jimmy Eat World, who were playing while i was working at a parking lot, but hey, i heard their music all the way over there!
So yeah, all in all, I had a great festival summer, and really hope I can go to one more festival, before my apprenticeship starts, as now i still have lotsof time. Just most festivals are in august, and mid ausgust is when my job starts so we'll see :/ In the future i gotta take time off for these kinda summers, but i just love festival season, and meeting so many cool people.
Oh yeah, and the tattoo I got mid-may:
Its based on this painting my grandma had hanging in her living room for as long as i can remember.
Oh and btw, I am currently kind of blonde. Not 100%, but it's a really light orange. I don't think i can keep it much longer, because when the roots grow out, i will never be able to get back to this colour. Or do you think I could actually rock real blonde?
So that's all the news I gotfor you right now. I hope all of you are doing well!
xoxo
