As soon as I completed my 36-hour flight from the Middle East to the USA (flying directly 100 miles INSIDE of Iran and up their western coast for some reason), my sister was found to be bleeding rectally even though nothing should be passing through there since she has a colonostomy (sp?) stuck directly into her system to pass stuff. So I spent most of the first day at the emergency room waiting for her to be seen past her vitals. She wasn't seen, so my mother and I took turns waiting with her all day and most of the next. She was finally admitted when a male nurse who had a colonostomy for two years realized what the bleeding meant (since she was on blood thinners) and prioritized her admission.
She was later put into a room in one of the departments upstairs, and there she sat for the last two days waiting for tests, procedures, more tests, more procedures and surgeries, and all of the while complaining about how much she hates being in the hospital and refuses to come back again and will get everything over with now so she doesn't have to. She was told to drink a gallon of sodium solution to clear out her system so they could operate on a multi-polyp growing on a stalk inside. I tried to convince her that the taste had nothing on the sea salt flush done during the Master Cleanse lemonade diet, so that she should finish it overnight and be clear in the morning to complete her surgery in just this one visit. I just found out now as her boyfriend brought her here to my mother's that she 'just didn't like the taste 'cause it made me think I was going to be sick' and didn't finish but a tiny portion of it in rebellion of having to take it in the first place. So...now she has to go back again Monday, but was allowed to go home and try a clear liquids-only diet until they can schedule her a whole new day to get the procedure done.
The decks are stacked against me, yet this unplanned 'vacation' is a family event that I must complete for their sakes. My original vacation plans were to visit the Philippines or simply travel around the more liberal Arab countries in the Gulf with my girlfriend. Que sera sera...
