This past weekend I got the chance to zoom up to Dallas for xcdat's weekend party. By the time I had left the party, I was surprised with an invitation to a wedding before I left overseas for Qatar. It'll be a blast, and I will definitely be there. Ended up getting to the party close to 2:30am due to getting out of work really late, and not leaving the home area until closer to 11pm. Since I had to work at around 7am less than 5 hours later, I had to leave about 3:45 in order to make it on time. I drove safely, legally, and did indeed get there with 15 mins to spare (had just enough time to stop home in my costume and get my steel-toed work boots). I ended up working while in costume to the joy of others as well as the sly glances from various ages of women. I'll be posting some of those pics in one of my photo albums, as well as the few I managed to squeak out at the party (I got there kind of late and missed a number of folks, not to mention it was a busy weekend for other Halloween activities to go to...).
On the overseas news front, I've been given differing travel dates due to constantly changing training class dates. The latest date is for the 4th of November, but I'm really thinking that it'll be later as originally planned. Not to mention that the Houston passport agency wouldn't have sent my newest passport until after that date anyhow. Interestingly enough, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) called me this morning while I was at the Veterans Hospital in Temple to offer me a position at the regional airport as an Airport Screener. The pay is good but the job was only part-time, and I really need to get away from this area and my dead love life. So I respectfully turned it down, and was notified that if in the future I do decide to go through the process again, provided I don't screw up somewhere and get it put on record, I'll have a slightly faster recruitment time than the 1 1/2 years it took them to get back to me. Yay, Government!
