It's been a while since I moved from Chicago but I finally had some time to go through an old hard drive and pull some photos from my time with @alyxhart. Yes! There will be a few sets of hers that were unreleased that will be making their way to SG! So keep your eyes out!
But I wanted to take a moment to love on this incredible model!
Where did I meet Alyx?
She was actually a friend of a friend of a friend! It was total happenstance! I actually showed up to film a g/g scene and she found out I did SG stuff and asked if she would be a good fit (the first set!). Needless to say, two sets later YES she is a good fit.
The Day Of The Session
I had been working all day teaching music and agreed to drive to her boyfriend's house for a session. I met their gorgeous German Shepherd as she showed me around their gorgeous home. You got to see her kitchen in Kitchen Table. After a quick bath, where we chatted about how allergic she is to technology 😂 we got to chatting in her living room. I couldn't help but pull out my camera. It was just supposed to be outlining a shoot but before we knew it we were both so into it!
Already this session was so completely different than her first. We were really connecting on a deeper level. It was more like a boudoir session than something intended for SG. She felt it. I felt it. It came through in the photos.
We had set out to get her profile images shot and maybe some teasers for social media but it was quickly becoming something so much more. We would dip back into the typical pinup style.
And then something happened. The light switched and she just... let loose.
We were no longer shooting an SG set. We were exploring who she was as a woman. Celebrating how her journey had gotten her to where she was. And loving every step of the way.
She started to love herself. She started to celebrate her womanhood. To find strength in her sensuality.
I was feeling it too. It was beautiful!
I felt my skills as a photographer grow. The button clicking like a passing train under my finger. Each shot was a conversation.
We got to talking about her story. About why she is here and about what inspires her to live life. Before I knew it, we were both tearing up.
We talked about vulnerability, weakness, and finding strength in that energy.
And as quickly as the setup interview began... it ended. We both took a big sigh.. stood and ran to the kitchen for a drink.
I feel incredibly lucky to be able to do this kind of work. To help women find beauty and love within themselves in a way a million complements never will. This is truly the kind of work that sets my soul on fire. And working with models like Alyx is some of the best medicine I could ever ask for. I can't wait to do more and more and more!
What's Next?
Unfortunately, since I moved to Tampa I'm not shooting Alyx anymore. I'm hoping for a Chicago trip or to get her down here to me sometime soon. Until then, you'll have the next couple sets we've got coming up to keep you company. Please give her some love and encouragement!
