Before I started photographing boudoir and art nudes I was an editor. I did quite a bit of editing for a few photographers while loving in LA.
I ran full edits on spec for a few (not to be named) studios. Which was great, but left me with an interesting weakness.
I lack the deciding factor on my own style. Which I really feel has held me back from being a recognized photographer. I’m just too damn indecisive!
But WHAT is my process??
1) Cull
I usually come away from a session with 2k-4k images and 3-4 sets! Picking those top images often takes up to five passes through.
2) Basic Edits
Balancing, pulling up shadows doing a basic retouch to make all images coherently telling a story.
3) Individual Edits
Going through the 60 images for the sets to work specific parts of each images… sharpening, blurring, blemishes, tanlines, and such.
4) Stylize Selection
I use AlienSkin to group edit so they all have the same… finishing touch.
5) Model Review
I send all images to the model. Most women see themselves in a different way than I do… smiles, eyes, body parts… it’s their final chance to ok as well as drool and celebrate over the AWESOME work they did!
6) Submit, Pray, and begin watching my calendar!
That’s kind of my process. Nothing crazy! I don’t know if anyone cares. But I’m happy to elaborate on anything if anyone wants to know!
