I've noticed a continuing trend, and I've unfortunately witnessed it like 3-4 times this week alone. Once at a pharmacy, once at a doctors office, once at a restaurant, and once in a grocery store.
People are turning into fucking dickheads. Literally. Acting like their time is more important than anyone elses, acting like everything is an inconvenience, complaining about service, etc.
Seriously? Get the fuck over yourselves.
Fucking pricks.
Learn some modesty. You ruin my day by having me witness you ruining other peoples days for the sake of ruining them to make yourself feel better. If I could, I'd call you out on your bullshit in public. I know it will completely go over your head and you will go about your day just as ignorant as your started it.
Fuck you,

The Midwest, especially upper Midwest has always seemingly been a haven for the polite, but even here, as you witnessed at the WCHA Final Five with me, that's not always the case (though sports and politics turn people into different animals haha).
You've got to pick and choose battles, but as corny as it sounds that goofy commercial they have on TV with the "Values: Pass it on" where the old lady walks the kid across the street and other see and and do something (there is an insurance one as well) that's usually how that kind of stuff works.
So I always go out of the way, sometimes to my detriment to be polite and nice, but you know when you are polite and that makes some people uncomfortable that society has shifted (also the whole miss/ma'am bit in the North is a bit annoying, but you just adjust and learn as you go).
It was funny though, I when I was at I think Wild/Kings, a kid ran by me and said "excuse me", I almost wanted to stop him and say "Good job boyo, being respectful will take you far in life and open more doors than you think as well as make people respect you" and then high five his parents for not sucking complete ass.
Some people get away with murder these days, entitlement, or just in general lack of respect for people or whatever else.
Don't let it get you down, just keep plugging away and make sure if and when you get a chance to reward it, you do and if you get a big situation you call them out on it.
Also---Chrysis it sounds like the people you work with are just assholes. My Mom used to complain about all the gossipy annoying types at her work. You just need to find a good outlet to vent that shit out, crying can purge it in ways, but in the end you'll still probably feel the same unless you are proactive about it.
