It's been a few days. I just wrapped up some black leather boots with silver stars on them for my girl. She'll love 'em. It's cold and white outside. The world for only a few hours will forget about the great machine. We are each a gear. My job being in retail has sucked some of the enjoyment of the holiday out of me. However the diamonds that sparkle on the landscapes will refund me my smile.
I started DJing again on Monday's at a local bar. I like to play old obscure raw, sexy soul music with a little bit of reggae and jazz in the mix. It's a lot of fun and I'm happy to be doing it again. It's good for the soul (no pun intended).
Picked up some great music in the last few days. 'Miho and Smokey' - Miho Hatori of Cibbo Mato and Smokey Hormel put together this great blend of cocktail jazz with a little world flavor to it. It's a very good record. I also found Mercury Rev's 'See You On The Other Side' on vinyl which is fucking awesome. That album is out of print and it's my favorite of theirs. I grabbed some more old psychedelic rock and also and album by Fly Pan Am. So my ears are quite pleased right now.
My parents sold a house they owned that my grandmother lived in and kicked us kids a few bucks so that's really wonderful of them. I was seriously falling behind finacially and this will be a nice pick up. Gotta get my car fixed as well.
Met up with some friends of mine from like 12 years ago that I haven't seen in years. That was fucking great! I used to be so close to these people but you know how life gets in the way of things. Well them being home for the holidays made it possible for us all to see each other again. It was funny because all the girls had real jobs and careers and us guys are just starting to figure out what the hell we really want to be doing. Really great to see them. I can't believe so much time has passed. I can never go back to those times and it makes me sad. I forget how important being really close and real to people is. I'm not saying that I'm full of shit now, but I'm a little more protective of myself I suppose. A toast to all the woderful people out there that make getting up and meeting the world each day a beautiful thing! Thank you.
Well I'm off to give presents to the people that I am close to. I embrace the chilly air and the white ice that illuminates the night.
Be cool guys...

Still it sounds interesting. In some ways your life sounds more depressing than mine, but your journal entrys contain a passion and level of viceral living that is missing in my life.
Merry Chrismas to you, and all the good people of the world!

What kind of jazz do they let you play at that bar? Like Pharoah Sanders and shit? If so, give me the name and address and I'll patronize that joint. Toledo can't figure out how to get the jukebox off of Sheryl Crow & Kid Rock so I gotta find alternate vendors when hitting below the NW Ohio belt.
