Well shit again.
Two times in a row I forget to do a Random Start for a week so here comes another double edition. Maybe I should just call it an every other week thing. Idk if I did that I would probably forget for 3 weeks. Regardless I will keep doing these as I miss the playlist homeworks that @missy and @rambo used to give us. On we go...
Quick reminder...Random start is a blog idea I stole. Put your iTunes/whatever on shuffle and post and discuss the first song that comes up. No matter what!
First song this week is:
pg.lost - gomez
Pg.lost is a swedish post-rock band. I came across them on last.fm as a recommendation since I listened to Jakob and Explosions in the Sky. I haven't listened to them much over the last couple years but they are a top notch post-rock group. This reminds me I need to check out their new album. Gomez is a pretty standard long post-rock song. I really dig the vibe of the song. Most post-rock or at least good post-rock makes me think of nature. Either driving around in the desert, woods, mountains, wherever or maybe even flying over the earth.
Next:
Ritchie Valens - Little Girl
I grew up listening to Ritchie Valens, Buddy Holly, and Elvis. At least that's what I remember listening to with my parents before I was school age. La Bamba was my favorite movie for a long time as a child. I would watch it while I held my fisher price play by color guitar haha. I am not too familiar with Little Girl. It is your standard 50s rock and roll. I much prefer songs like Come on Lets Go or We Belong Together. I have to say that I do prefer the Los Lobos versions done for La Bamba better than the Valens originals.
Until next week...or the week after.
