What is Random Start? It's a blog idea I stole from other blogs on the interwebs. Long story short you put iTunes/whatever on shuffle and discuss the first song that comes up. NO MATTER WHAT.
This week's song:
Mono is a Japanese post-rock band. I came across them a few years ago on Hermitology the blog of Thrice's Drummer Riley Breckenridge. I went through a big post rock phase during that time listening to anything and everything post-rock, Explosions in the Sky, Jakob, pg.lost, the American Dollar, Mogwai, The Mercury Program, Hammock, God is an Astronaut, Caspain and others. I still listen to post-rock but it isn't the obsession it once was. I enjoy how dynamic post-rock music is. Its not just the same few bars on repeat like some songs these days. There are slow parts, fast parts, quiet parts, loud parts. To me it is the perfect music for adventuring in nature. I love to just sit somewhere in Joshua Tree and gaze across the desert while listening to post-rock (particularly Jakob and Explosions in the Sky). OP Beach isn't a song I know but it is a good mellow song excellent for relaxing to.
Two weeks in a row. Maybe I will make it 3 haha.
