1.) It's extremely stressful.
2.) It's extremely expensive.

Personally, I didn't find it stressful the two times I did it, but I was doing it alone. You have a partner and a kid, so that's definitely an issue.
With that said, however, my parents claim that the best and easiest time to travel at all is while the kid is young. It's definitely cheaper that way, too.
If you research your destination well, and do as much as you can do without actually being there, you'll find it's a pretty simple process. Just make sure you always have a Plan B for every step you intend to take.
(e.g. I expected to find a place to live when I moved within 2 weeks, but it ended up taking 5 months -- plan for shit like this to happen and you'll do fine)

This past year almost killed me and there where times that I had similar feelings. All I can say is stay strong and motivated and time heels all wounds. It's amazing how when we get into these places in our heads how it can really control us. It becomes very hard to get control back. But it's worth the fight. Stay strong
