To return to a place where you are from (partially), is always a bit strange. I left California 10 years ago, and have been pretty content living in the north woods on the shore of Lake Superior, but these last few months have been rough. Feels as though I'm wearing someone else's skin though I know it's my own, just in process of change into something I'm not quite happy with.
Back to L.A., there's nothing like a place of the past to put the present into context. I've always felt repulsed by this town. Too many people, too many egos, too much hurrying, and too much concrete, but for the few days I'm here it's a cold, but welcome feeling.
I'm picking up a motorcycle today, my girl tomorrow then headed north to the Sierras, then over and down the coast. It's just a few days, but it'll be refreshing to see it again.
