HOW VERY CHRISTIAN
First, it is funny that a 'Christian' has to close shop because there aren't enough profits to be had.
Second, blaming lack of music sales on internet downloads? Wouldn't that be considered un-Christian to 'steal' music?
Industry wide sales are down for a number of reasons; the entertainment dollar is strained. DVD sales, movies, transportation costs have all gone up. Just because there are more choices to spend your money on doesn't mean that extra money starts flowing out of your mattress to match your 'need'.
The biggest reason, though, is that the quality of the product. Music and movies have been rather terrible for a few years now. I imagine 'Christian' music is no different. Don't they (Christians) traditionally buy more country music, anyway? Country music seems to be doing just fine.
I regularly buy DVDs but never music. I will not pay for porn, either. I know my cousin Jay thinks this is sacrilege as he feels the musicians get robbed. Do they? I thought they sign a contract and simply get paid by producing an album not sales. Maybe not. Depends on the deal? Jay has complained in the past about 'the porn bills'. But that $8 Billion a year industry needs the help. Just think of the number of hand towels they have to buy.
Then again Jay thinks half a swallow of beer left in a bottle is an insult to brewers and the storied history of beet. I still haven't seen a movie in a theater this century. I keep threatening to see the Simpsons movie. When you have to dump $20+ on a movie the thing better kick more than a little bit of ass. Yah, $20. If I go more than likely it is with a girl and most know a punch me in the face to distract me in order to pick up a check is necessary.
The last movie I saw was 'As Good As It Gets'. I had to watch it months later to make sure it was as subpar as I thought.
