jacques et moi
Hmm, long day at work. I spent the better part of the day counting the number of tourists wearing socks with sandals. highly questionable in my opinion.
last night i went to a local artist gallery opening. when i parked my car along the old gravel road there was a lexus next to me. though it was dark i managed to catch the bumper sticker on it. it featured a french flag with a "no" slash through it and the intelligent motto "boycott france." fucking idiots.
currently listening to:
nick drake pink moon (an old favorite)
jacques brel infinement (i've got a thing for dead belgians)
the gift of gab fourth dimensional rocketships... (my token rap cd)
freddie hubbard hub-tones (i'm shocked that i am just now getting around to listenig to this! herbie hancock plays piano on it as well, es ist wunderbar!)
boards of canada twoism (last year i used to wait for my roommate to fall asleep and then play boc really loudly. it would scare the shit out of him)
scott walker In 5 Easy Pieces 3: An American In Europe (a continuation of my current jacques brel fixation, most songs are from scott walker sings jacques brel, apporpiately enough.)
currently reading:
the european dream by jeremy rifkin
absalom, absalom by william "the human beatbox" faulkner

and of montreal is fucking awesome live. they had a 10 minute improvised segment in their show involving some sort of orb (?). craziness. and they did the most unbelievable cover of outkast's "hey yah" i'll post some more of montreal pics soon, and maybe some from the tortoise concert i saw in new orleans.
