I'm lucky. Very lucky.
Why?
Not really sure.
How do I know I'm lucky?
Because a coffee and a pastry told me so.
Doesn't take much more than that to steer a life, sometimes.
The aftermath I'm living in right now seems to be an entirely different aftermath than the one in which I'd been living for a while. Years, really.
In this aftermath, I've got my feet beneath me, and they seem to know where they're going. That feeling's been a long time coming.
I always knew I had a future. I'd even passed it on the street a few times. I just didn't know what I was looking at.
It wasn't a vision like an obscure saint appearing in my pancakes or Apha-bits. Nope. Instead, it was a thought that came to me during some down time I was sharing with a cup of coffee and a Krispy Kreme. I had another bite and another sip. The thought was still there. When I'd folded my paper, polished off my glazed friend and walked out the door, the thought was still with me.
I'd been complicating things. I do that.
Even in the big picture, my life may not be much more complicated than a coffee, something sweet, some good words and a few ripe minds.
Do I owe my life to glaze?
Maybe so, but I'm the one who ordered it.

This could very well be my new favorite thing.
Ha ha. Thanks, though. You're not so bad yourself there, big fella.
