Well, last Friday (12/27) ended up being a pretty eventful day. I got a visit from my half-sister Kim, who I hadn't seen in about 3 or 4 years.
I won't go into the whole story of the divided sides of my family and why exactly we've never been able to get to know each other, but we met for the first time when I was 17, and I met her literally about 2 days after finding out for the first time that I had a half-sister I'd never met.
Unfortunately, due to the aforementioned "divided family" our attempts to get to be family for each other never were able to work out the way we wanted them to. There was always something to get in the way. I spent a lot of time worrying over the past few years that I might never see her again.
But, I'm hopeful that things will finally be different this time. We are both older now, so we have more freedom to communicate with each other without anyone trying to stop us. Plus it turns out she doesn't live very far away, so I might be able to visit her every now and then. I'm honestly just so relieved that after years and years of trying, we might finally be able to be family to each other.
