Law school will not happen this year
I just got two more rejection letters. I've gotten into two pretty good schools with nice scholarship options, BUT I feel like I could get into better schools and get better scholarship options if I had included my two current internships on my applications. I didn't include them because applications were due before I felt comfortable describing these internships, but I'm sure they'd look good to law schools, especially with my other internship. The two I'm doing right now are: 1.) working in the Mayor of Houston's international affairs office and 2). working in the Harris County District Courts (mostly STAR Drug Court).
I think both of those would work wonders getting me into law school, and even though I'm impressed with the offers I've been given scholarship-wise, I feel like I'd get a better deal next year. I don't think that's slighting the schools that accepted me either.
I dunno. My girlfriend's also waiting a year.
Volunteering to work at an orphanage in Mexico is also on the list of possibilities, as is working teaching English in Cuernavaca (a town I've been to twice for a total of almost two months). I'm still waiting to hear from a Department of State scholarship that would let me study Arabic overseas for 7-11 weeks this summer, but regardless, I need to decide if I'm gonna stay in Houston or go to Mexico, Chicago, Portland, Seattle, or somewhere else this fall.
I hate making these kind of decisions, and it will be even harder with a degree -- because I can actually make money.
