i feel so....violated.
heather and i had plans to go out tonight with some friends, and decided for a treat, since the weather was nice and cool tonight, that we'd take the mustang.
so, i walk out to the car and go to unlock it.
odd, i don't feel the lock turn when i turn the key. did i leave it unlocked? i don't think so. haven't done that in a LONG time.
so i open the door, and notice some stuff on my seat that i don't remember leaving there.
then it hits me. the next thing my eyes seek is my stereo.
sure enough, there is a gaping hole with wires hanging out of where my old stereo was so gingerly installed.
upon further looking around (it was dark, and directly under the street light) i noticed the ignition module in the steering column was all busted up, with the lock mechanism laying on my driver's seat. fucking dumbshits tried to steal the car. HELLLOOOO Ford PATS, YOU FUCKHOLES! :retard:
then i looked up and noticed my guage pod (where the clock used to go on the dash) missing as well.
few odd observances:
my glove box, empty, including my south carolina registration paper
my insurance card that was in the glove box, laying on the pass. floor, not taken
1 quart of oil i bought friday laying mostly empty on the ground near the front
oily fingerprints/etc on the hood and oil fill cap.
1 set of 8 new autolite sparkplugs, also missing.
i also noticed they jammed a metal something into the passenger door lock and broke it off, but while they were there they went the extra mile and scratched the fucking paint around the lock up.
engine was UNTOUCHED except for the fucking oil cap, and my electric water pump was unplugged.
i have to assume that this was the work of fuckhead amateurs for a few reasons:
1. they didn't realize you can't jimmy an ignition or hotwire a 94+ mustang. Passive Anti-Theft System works like a charm.
2. they made a bunch of scratches and fucked my pass. side door lock up real nice, when there was an easier method to get in. (i'll refrain from posting it, but it ain't that hard, as i've had to do it 2x now.)
3. they didn't take my wheels/tires
4. they didn't take my airbag(s)
5. i had a very small ziploc-type bag of nitrous jets in the glove box....they were spilled on the pass. seat, bag is mia.
6. they looked in my trunk from inside (through the rear seat delete) and didn't take the mach 460 amps that are hanging by wires in the trunk (no liner/carpet) OR the nitrous bottle warmer
7. they left fingerprints all over the place.
now, i'm fucking confused here about their intent and purpose for breaking into my car of all cars in the parking lot. it was sitting next to 2 other cars, one riced out integra (which we noticed had broken off door handles, but hey, that really doesn't mean anything) and one hatch mustang, new paint, drag radials on 10-holes. did they want the car and just settle for the stereo? :dunno: why did they put oil in the car, unplug the water pump, and take the sparkplugs? :dunno:
man, tomorrow when it's daylight, ima call the caps and take LOTS of pictures and document all the stuff thats broken/missing, AND thoroughly inspect the engine for tampering.
sounds like a bunch of fucking punk kids (who probably live here. ). anyways, time for bed, i'm fucking pissed and stuff, but at least it's still here. even tho i can't fucking start it.
side note: i have full coverage on the car, as well as renter's insurance. i wonder what all they'll cover?
thoughts?
pics from the break-in:
Pic of the pass. side door lock, or what's left of it. Dusted for prints:
Pic of the interior, stereo, clock/guage pod missing, and ignition busted up:
Pic of the hood dusted for prints:
Pic of the oil spilled over the fill tube, on the valve cover:
Pic of the water pump connector they unplugged (i plugged it back in):
fuckholes.
the cop said there were a couple incidents like mine in a few other apt. complexes nearby, so they thing they're the same people doing it. he said he was glad to pull prints, so hopefully they can catch who's doing it, and make less work for them, which makes sense. the guy was really nice.
ugh, now to deal with insurance/body shop. *sigh*

Man... You're so rad. Morningbloom's journal says it all... Your surprise went over really well apparently.
So cool. I'd love to go on a triple date with you guys, me and mine, and Egon and Mercy. Do you two play board games? (I know... We're so lame, but I love Scatagories and Uno...)

industrielle:
I own Balderdash, I just don't remember how to play it. Mercy likes that one too.
This could be lots of fun!
