Okay Saturday night was an absolute blast. It started off with a dinner with some friends, then onto GWAR!!! We got there in enough time to catch one of the opening acts called Devil Driver, who was musically much better than GWAR in my opinion, but with GWAR you are there for the theatrics more than the music anyway. The only complaint with DD was that the lead singer kept finding it necessary to talk instead of just fucking sing. So after they left the stage we milled about in Purgatory while waiting for GWAR to get setup.
While doing so we found out some fairly bummer kind of news. Apparently the Masquerade is going to be closing some time next October/November timeframe. That marks the last haven that I had as far as the original clubs that I use to hang out in. Oh well, as they say, Time marches on and grinds the bones of the down trodden under foot. (okay so I paraphrased a bit)
Anyway back to GWAR!!! The band finally went on and we had an absolute blast watching them. Those who braved the front ended up looking like extras out of a zombie film. The band as always was completely over the top, and yet some how cuddly and lovable all at the same time.
Once the band finished playing we headed out to the Highlander to play pool and air hockey. We met a few interesting individuals and spent the night talking and listening to music before heading out for home around 3:30 AM. All in all a good night.
