What God would possibly tell you to go out and kill strangers? If there is a glorious deity out there, why not let them judge? Why must we cast judgement and become our own Gods? Don't give me that God told me to kill people bit. If some supernatural force is whipering that in your ear chances are it is not God. Or at least not the wonderful God you pray to.
Everything is about God. Life, death, success, sports, Grammy awards, the Lottery, and Xmas. What about us? When is our existance going to be about us? When are we going to stop caring so much about invisible people & superstitions and start giving a damn about the person next to you that ahem, you can actually see and talk to?
At times like this I'm reminded of the thought that in the history of humankind more people have died in the name of God than for any other reason. It seems so pointless to me.
What if God was one of us? Just a slob like one of us. Just a stranger on the bus, trying to make his way home... until a bomb explodes on the bus. This is a sick world we live in. Call the flight attendant, I think I'm gonna need one of those bags.

I WISH I'd written that. No, that's an excerpt from "The Man with the Blue Guitar" by one of my favorite poets, Wallace Stevens. I recommend him if you're in the market for reading some really interesting stuff.
