Hi, and we're back. It's time once again for that hit journal entry "random babble". Today's scatterbrained contestant is none other than yours truly. So without any further adieu, it's on to the babble:
-Today I came across a book of famous superstitions at work, but I was kinda afraid to open it.
-I can't wait to see that new Star Wars movie, it's been rated PG-13 because it's so dark and violent. I have a feeling it's going to be great!
-I recently discussed the topic of reciprocal altruism with a friend. Basically it's the theory that one organism does benevolent acts with the thought that there will be future reciprocation of that kindness. After a 20 minute conversation about it, I've decided I don't like it. I feel you should do nice things because you want to, not because you expect a reward, good karma, or something valuable back in return. Let us just be nice because it is the right thing to do as humans. I wish more people felt that way.
-I need new sneakers. I always wait til my current ones are falling apart before pulling the trigger on the purchase of new ones. This time I will make a pre-emptive strike. I'll get new ones just because. Sometimes in life it's good to have something to fall back on... a back-up plan if you will. There's a cliche I could now invoke involving eggs and a basket, but that doesn't apply to me, I keep my all my eggs in one fridge.
-I bought Everything But the Girl's CD "Temperamental" earlier today during my lunch break. It's the best one of their CDs I've heard so far. It reminds me of driving/riding at night between Detroit and Buffalo to see my ex. It was the open road, the night sky, the breeze, the emotion, those beats and that voice. Sure I associate it with fond memories, but I dig it nonetheless. Smiles are important. Between listening to that and some Chopin earlier this morning I've had a few today. I hope all of you have some smiles soon too.
