Another weekend that was too short. It contained Mexican food, Greek food, a pina colada, a frozen margerita, a Miller high life (just one), a smidge of pizza (can't turn it down), great conversations, the wind in my hair, shopping, a few pretty smiles (not mine), an hour and a half in a bookstore talking with friends for no good reason, a tasty hot chocolate, quotes by John Cage, new CDs, and finally Lord of the Rings 2 on a home theater system complete with a massive projector screen that looked like a small movie theater- My one friend who owns this always buys expensive techie toys that he loves to show off. We moved the love seat in front of the couch so that we had 2 rows of seats for the movie... it was great, and yes we are silly.
Arrrr, I saw this story on the web this morning and I almost fell off my chair laughing. You gotta see this:
PIRATE CAPTAIN WINS ELECTION!
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) Aye, matey! The Pirate Captain is now the student government president at North Carolina State University.
Will Piavis ran under the name the Pirate Captain and won a runoff election, with nearly 59% of the vote. As the results were read, his supporters chanted his name and wore pirate hats from Long John Silver's restaurant.
Piavis said the pirate persona was a good way to get students interested in campus politics, and he plans to continue using it.
But the new president is now sounding more politico than pirate. Piavis is reaching out to students turned off by his unusual campaign, urging them to get involved in student government.
His supporters point to high voter turnout as evidence that he will be good for the school. Others were disturbed by what they saw as a lack of substance.
"He doesn't really have any issues," senior Alissa Tompkins said. "All his quotes in the paper were in pirate language that doesn't make any sense."

re wurtzle, i have to be in the mood for her. i am never convinced that she has quite the grasp on information or culture that she attitudes as though she has. and yet, she is smart as sassy. there is just something missing - a certain ease of expression, a full/er comprehension - something. hmmmmm.
and that is the NICEST thing EVER to say to me!! wow!! with the definite exception, i would say, plus a few more. but still, THANK YOU. i feel like a total slag 70% of the time, and you made my morning.
