Dj vu
As the final few weeks of school approached my psychology class was in the chapter dealing with memory. It is there that a question came up, What is Dj vu?. The text book definition is having a feeling of having already experienced the current moment, and as my classmates shared their experiences of dj vu, I sat there pondering and recollecting everything I could on the subject-Dj vu dj vu... Dj vu. The professor then chimed in on her take on dj vu, saying that somehow we get visions of whats to come, and though we may not know what they mean, we get them. She stated that they range from a simple sense of oh, Ive seen this to the stronger ones where we know exactly what a person is going say before they say it, which had happened to me recently, however, her explanation doesnt sit right with me.
To me, the belief that we get visions or somehow are clairvoyant when it comes to future events, is somewhat metaphysical and offers no solid or logical answer to the question, what is dj vu?, it gives too much power to a force that may or may not exist. For example, It would be like saying it was his time to go when clearly he was on a self-destructive path that ended his life. Life is what you make it, so you see why I need an answer that is more concrete.
The answer, to me, doesnt come from just being susceptible to a higher power; it lies within the conscious and subconscious mind, and the time space continuum (cant forget about the time space continuum . You see the subconscious mind is active, even though we may not perceive it as such; at every moment, it is there receiving information every waking second. It works as a secondary hard drive, storing information we may or may not use later. It is a secret secondary hard drive we do not have direct access to, but its there. The conscious mind however is an active drive, which you have instant access to at any given moment. And the time space continuum need I say more? IDK so I will. Time is relative to how we perceive it, me(,) you(,) and my friend perceive a moment in a very different way, influenced by our current status, energy levels and our very own sense of timing. So here it is, my take on dj vu: dj vu is nothing but a lag (delay) in our conscious mind, complemented by our subconscious mind to make up for that lost time. In other words; as our unconscious mind traverses through time regularly, our conscious mind has, for some reason, delayed its attention, after a moment of delay it gets back to the scheduled programing, and as the conscious mind tries to figure things out, the subconscious mind fills it in on whats happened so far, leaving you with a feeling like youve been there before, and It IS because you have been there before, just not consciously.
