I buy so many products (food and otherwise) and have NO idea what I'm buying or what into the making of that product. Makes it awfully hard to be consumer conscious.
But as for free range... I would never trust those labels unless I went to the farm itself. And don't trust someone else to do quality checks... even PCC doesn't always check out the "free range" products that they sell.

Tonight was the first time I tried making puttanesca from scratch (rather than a bottle or just going out to eat). I'm surprised how well it came out. Though future attempts will have considerably less olive oil and far more spice. The kick's the whole point of the dish after all.
