ok so someone i havn't seen in a while sends me an email, saying theres this real good band, who are looking for a vocalist, now i ahven't been in a band for about 6 months or so after the last oen fell to pieces,(damn opower plays, and dickheads), so theres me all disheartened and stuff, about ever gettin a band up and running gain, i talked to my old guitarist the other day as well as bassist and there tempted actaully eager to reform, without certain members. i've tyaken all of this on board and have been tempted if not to start but to just jam again, ya know.
but nayway im dgressing, so my friend glynn, sends me email, i tell him to pass on details for me, and below is the email i recieved back.
"Hi Brendan
My name's Jon Fraser and I know Andy Raymond who knows Amy who knows Glyn who knows you. Andy (Ray) spoke to Glyn the other day and told him about our band and how we need a vocalist. Glyn told Ray that you were sick and that you may be interested, hence why I am writing this e-mail.
Me and Ray have been in bands for years but we started playing together a couple of years ago in my band at the time dead by dawn. Basically, to cut a long story short, the band had real potential but the vocalist was just too slack and after years of hard work within that band I decided to call it a day.
A year has now passed and me and Ray (both guitarists) have been writing solidly throughout it, we now have about 10 really decent songs and loads of killer riffs. We are influenced heavily by punk, hardcore and metal, loving that blend of melody with hard aggression. We aspire to bands like Thrice, Killswitch, coheed and cambria, Funeral, My chemical Romance, The Bled- Blah blah blah!
It has taken time sorting it out because we know the potential that these songs have and what an amazing band could be formed around them. Slowly we have found the other right members to complete the line-up.
The thing missing though is a phat vocalist to pull all our shit together, like I said these tunes are awesome but they are nothing without the right vocalist. We're looking for someone that can sing well and also has a phat scream.
So, this e-mail is from me and Ray asking if you want to try out for our band? I have recorded most of the tunes on my computer through logic and I also have vocals and melodies to some of them so you could here where we're coming from.
Band practises start at backline studios in Guildford on Monday the 6th of September(that may be the 8th actually, but it's definitely that Monday). We'll probably take a good few weeks to get going ourselves with the shit cos it is all new to the drummer and bassist, so if you were interested you wouldn't have to be about immediately if you weren't available.
Would be really cool to hear from you and to show you the tunes. you can reply to this e-mail or my numbers are ?????????????????????//////
Cheers dude and look forward to hearing from you
Jon and Ray"
now all sounds promising hey??????? but then my inerrant cynicism kicks in and i think wait on, glynn used to be best friends with my recent ex amy, and that didnt end well at all with that? so much theres a lot of hate from her firends towards me and vice versa, personnally i'd just sooner forget that part of my life happened which goes against my usually no regret policy.
but anyway, i know glynn and amy havn't talked for ages! too many issues and stuff?
but these guys know amy as well?
so what i'm really getting at as well, is the email seems to be a scam to me? like there doign it to be petty an dget thier own back, i turn up to practice no ones thier, they all get a cheap laugh, now i have 2 numbers to call? but again coudl be the same thing, hence why i'm unsure on weather to call them or not?
and last the email address this email came from is some odd photgraphy website up north somwhere>? if they live here, why woudl they work all the way up north?
am i being insanely paranoid here, am i avoiding another oppourtunity to try it again, due to lack of believe in myself and confidence in general?
waht are all your thoughts and opinions on this?
ring them?
email them? arrnage a meet?
one last thing, i'd sooner be doign spazz core, sludge, grind than your fashionable metalcore/emocore stuff, but anys good really?
mmmm thoughts are not good today.

I say call and try. If they are that petty to try some silly joke than you shouldn't let it get to you.
