I'm being painted!!! I was at an art gallery opening last night, as my friends from art college invited me.
Aside from the fact that there were several beautiful women there (one which tried to talk to me, and I sort of grinned and walked out the room, playing it cool as I was nervous.)
And this local artist came over to me and said I was beautiful, and could she paint me? She said I 'had to be on canvas', and that I had a great look. I was gobsmacked. I'd leapt out the houe last minute, and even went into the toilets of the first pub to do my make up in, and my hair on the bus there!
She's a really amazing artist. I'm so excited!! How often does someone get to have a portrait painted these days, especially by such a good artist? I even get paid for sitting for her, and commision on the prints of myself sold. I said to her at the time that I was so honoured that I would have done it for free, lol!
It's so weird - since I decided that I wsn't modelling, I keep getting offers to model! In the past two weeks, I've had three offers outside of SG. Isn't that odd?
I still would love to model because I adore collaborating with artists. I love having to 'tune' into a photographer, and second guess how to adapt my poses. I do believe that modelling is artistic collaboration, it requires a funny sort of art from the model her/himself. I don't like looking at photos of myself, but I do like to be photographed. I enjoy working with photographers, it's a wonderful experience. You really feel like you're doing something special. As a model, it feels like 'giving' yourself for the art in some way. In the same way that we can put our personalities on a canvas, and suggest moods by painting different colours. Being photographed is like painting, without the 'middle man' of the canvas. You trust someone else to put what you want to express on the canvas/photograph. Photography is trust and intimacy between model and photographer.
I often say 'just don't show me any photos!' before I pose for people. It's because I'm concious that there's more to a photo than me thinking I look 'pretty'. So I prefer to trust a photographer to catch something of me, even if I look at the picture and yelp that I look 'odd', or unpretty. I think it's important to be captured on film looking like you, rather than looking posed and beautiful. Otherwise photography would just be biased.
Ok, waffle over!
In other news, my skirt unzipped and fell off in the middle of my favourite pub! Classic moment. If only someone had had a camera.
