This entire entry is just a whinge about my job so feel free to skip it. I've spent far too much time this week coming back from work and yelling at my flatmates, so I'm just going to shove it here instead and hope next week is better.

"Saturday night was Punk Rock Karaoke, which is always a laugh. However we also had the three most boring bands in existence on beforehand. Also, I was still very much feeling the effects from the night before, and my whole body ached like a thousand pulled muscles in a vice. By the end of the night I was a grumpy, agonized wreck. Yet I still did all the fucking work. Half an hour before the end of the night the other barmaid vanishes to drink and play pinball, and I get stuck with the clearing up and sorting out the whole bar. She then turns up again at half three with a token 2 glasses and a bottle so she can claim she was glass collecting. There are things I love about my job, and things I truly hate. I need a payrise. Or to quit and get a job where being a conscientious and hard worker is actually rewarded."
This is from a journal entry from MONTHS ago. My, how things never change. My manager has been away ill, and if he doesn't come back soon I am going to murder at least one person that I work with. It means I can't relax and enjoy my days off because when I get in the day after, the entire place hasn't been restocked, cleaned or sorted out for days. The beer taps don't get taken off. The soda guns don't get soaked. Bins aren't emptied. The glass washer is left to fester in scummy water. Nothing is wiped down or cleaned. This is all bad news if you don't like fly eggs in your drink. I'm sick of getting to work and having to do all the stuff people should have done the night before, as well as everything I have to do that night.
It isn't that hard to restock the bar, wipe things down, wash shot pourers, refill optics, empty the bin and do whatever else needs doing in quiet periods between serving people. Yet it seems to only be me that even notices that this stuff needs doing.
Also - mouthing off about how you see it as your right to drink as much as you want behind the bar without paying for it because you aren't well paid, and how in your past jobs if you didn't like your boss or thought you weren't being paid enough you used to steal clothes/make up? Tacky.
All this said, the newest member of staff is a godsend as, shock horror, he's good at the job and actually does things without being told.
yes yes, I know, "get a better job", but aside from everything I've complained about here, and everything else I complain about on a regular basis, I actually love working there for various reasons - including tax purposes...I just also love complaining
