I alluded to it in my end-of-year recap thing but my workplace had kinda given me a raw deal. Long story short, I'd applied for a new position, received the job offer, asked questions to make sure we were all in the same page, signed the offer, then things went to hell. I ended up being unable to take that job, so I was pretty miserable for a while.
Fast forward a few months and another job gets posted, somebody is retiring. I'm like 'fuck it, let's try again'. I apply and get an interview, it's scheduled for one of my days off in the following week. Ok, no big deal, that's actually fine, I can prep for it better since I won't be focused on work. I FORGOT TO FUCKING GO. MY DUMB ASS NO CALL/NO SHOWED MY OWN INTERVIEW. I get a call from HR like 'hey, is everything ok?' and I was completely *devastated*. They were willing to move it to the next day (a day I would already be there) but I knew I'd blown my chance. You don't hire the idiot who doesn't show up to the interview.
Well guess what? They hired the idiot who didn't show up to the interview. I just completed my first Monday - Friday workweek in over 17 years. My whole time at this company was a two-week rotating production schedule so this is very weird. First week seemed to go well and my retiring trainer says I'm ahead of schedule. I've completely fooled them all into thinking I'm a competent adult.
