The new obsessions I have discovered now that I live in NYC:
Expensive French Lingerie
My favorite Sushi restaurant (this is the bathroom obviously, I just think it is rad)
The snow
My local Polish Deli (Perogis, Kilbasa and Saurkraut...Yum!!)
And the teeny tiny apartment my boyfriend and I share....ha!
Yes, this Cali girl has certainly made a home for herself in the Big Apple. I do believe, and probably always will that California will always hold a very special warm fuzzy spot in my heart, but NYC has definitely swept me off my feet!
Admittedly I moved here for love. As you do when you are young and unafraid, but not unaware, of the tragedy of heartbreak and the risk involved with giving up your entire life to be with someone else. Because surely it is a great risk. And believe me, my family did put up a fight. But what can they do, really? I am almost 30, and been self reliant since I was 18. But that is what life is all about. Taking risks and chances, and most importantly following your heart.
So here I am, almost into my third month on the right coast, sick as a dog, and wishing for a break from the retched cold. Not working yet, but I have been hired. Yes, you see, I will be working for a new Tavern opening up soon, we just havent yet acquired the all powerful liquor license, which is quite necessary in case you were wondering. But still, I keep myself busy and quite content in fact. Most of my days are spent in a fairly routine manner. I wake up, lay there for a bit, make coffee and breakfast and write a list of things to do. I manage to fit in a solid 4 days of Yoga (except this week since I am dying of sinus congestion), usually walk all over the city and window shop since I am too poor to actually purchase anything and cook, a lot. That is pretty much what my weekdays are like. Weekends are often more exciting with the boyfriend home from work. We like to run around, eat out, and join up with some mates to watch footy (soccer).
Back to me cooking, I have discovered I am a surprisingly great chef. I mean, I always knew I could cook, its just that I worked nights so I never really got a lot of practice in. This week I have done Butter Chicken, Turkey Meatballs in marinara, Chicken Marsala, Grapefruit Cupcakes and tonight will be Moussaka. I love to make traditional dishes of other countries. Its my favorite.
I wont really be doing much today. I feel awful and want to be 100% for the weekend. Sunday will be a big day out for us. Huge soccer match between Liverpool and Chelsea (go Reds) and then of course there is the Super Bowl (which I could really care less about). So if I am expecting my body to handle a good 12 hours or more of running around and being social (drinking), I sure as shit better be getting my rest.
In other news I am hoping to do a couple new sets. No really, I am serious this time. This morning, in my miserable state, I contacted Fractal and Brooklyn about possibly working with them in the next month or so. I really hope to make front page this time. It's a must! So wish me luck! I'll be sure to keep everyone updated if and when we do end up shooting. I think I am gonna get back in bed now. Cheers!
